Akimbo Technologies today announced it has signed a contract with Canada’s Department of National Defence for $1M. The contract, awarded as part of Canada’s Innovation for Defence Excellence and Security (IDEaS) program’s Knot Vulnerable - Locking Down Cybersecurity on Naval Vessels Challenge, will further develop the DEFENSA inline product for marine application to a pre-commercial level ready for trials. DEFENSA Marine software can either function on a small, dedicated device installed inline on the ship’s network, or it can run coresident on existing electronic control units. Core attributes include real-time detection of a critical system anomaly or cyberattack, no false positives or negatives created while correcting cyberattacks, and no utilization of either machine learning or artificial intelligence. It is essentially a plug and play appliance. DEFENSA Marine , an easily added inline appliance that operates in real-time, does not rely on a cloud connection to function. As such, this capability delivers security even in remote seas, or in naval environments that may be hostile or treacherous. DEFENSA Marine delivers the safety of both the onboard crew and cargo even in the most challenging scenarios. DEFENSA Marine is ideal for commercial marine vessels, for ships conducting search and rescue, and those addressing military situations. Furthermore, DEFENSA Marine is as ideal for vessels already in use as it is for vessels in production or design.
