Advancing the reliability of electrification and automation for vehicles is a major objective for today’s automotive industry. In addition to delivering energy savings, achieving this important goal can also help to reduce the number of driving-related accidents.
Advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) and automated driving (AD) functions have the potential to significantly reduce the number of accident-related deaths. However, without innovative in-vehicle safety technologies, there exists a high risk that new vehicle designs may be vulnerable to critical system failures (e.g., braking, steering) and/or catastrophic cyberattacks.
DEFENSA Embedded is shifting the paradigm in automotive system safety and security.
DEFENSA Embedded is a software-only solution that is deployed on ECUs or other network devices on the vehicle that is still in its design phase. DEFENSA can simply be co-located on an ECU to detect, correct, and heal cyberattacks (similar to DEFENSA Inline), or it can be designed-in at the system level to assign, revoke, and reassign application authority to achieve dynamic fault tolerance and application resiliency.
